The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requested and received a waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that allows providers of school meals to serve meals without having to keep children together and on-site. This waiver allows districts to explore creative options for feeding children who depend on these meals even if the school building is closed. Breakfast and lunch meals, served under the program called Unanticipated School Closure SFSP, are available to all children at no cost to anyone age (18) and under, or up to age (26) if they receive special education services.
The meals will be ‘grab-and-go’ breakfast and lunch, and will be distributed from the lobby of the schools during the days and hours noted below.
From Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, March 24, 2020, meals will be available from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at two District locations: Northville High School, 45700 Six Mile Rd, Northville, MI 48168; and Cooke School, 21200 Taft Road, Northville, MI 48167.
With the Governor’s Stay Home. Stay Safe. Executive order issued on March 22, 2020, meal service will be consolidated to Northville High School only on Tuesdays and Fridays, beginning the week of March 30, 2020 through at least April 14, 2020:
9:00 a.m. - 12 noon on Tuesdays and Fridays at:
Northville High School, 45700 Six Mile Road, Northville, Mi 48168
The meals will be ‘grab-and-go’ breakfast and lunch, and will be distributed in the lobby of both schools during the days and hours mentioned above. At each visit on Tuesday, students (or their parents/guardians) can take both breakfast and lunch for three days. On Friday, students may take breakfast and lunch for four days, with meals provided seven days per week.
