Northville Public Schools Celebrates October ABCD Award Recipients

Northville Public Schools is proud to recognize the newest recipients of the district’s ABCD (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty) Award — an honor open to nominations from students, parents, and staff to celebrate employees who make extraordinary contributions that go beyond the norm.

At the October 28, 2025, Board of Education meeting — held on the road this month at Winchester Elementary — four outstanding staff members were honored for their exceptional commitment and care: Beth Brown, preschool teacher; Deb Obsniuk, administrative assistant at Winchester Elementary; Julie Redwine, social worker at Amerman Elementary; and Kelly Lindsay, principal at Winchester Elementary.

Although preschool teacher Beth Brown was unable to attend the meeting, she received her award personally — hand-delivered by the student who nominated her (pictured below). In their touching submission, the preschooler shared how Mrs. Brown made the transition to school joyful and comforting: “I was very scared to start preschool and cried the first few days, but Mrs. Brown made me feel loved and safe. She showed me how to write my name, and now I can’t wait to run in each morning. I even asked if we could visit her on Saturday because I missed her so much!”

Deb Obsniuk (pictured below), longtime administrative assistant at Winchester Elementary, was recognized for her kindness, dedication, and deep care for students and families. The parent who nominated her described Deb as “the heart of the Winchester office,” always helpful, patient, and beloved by the school community. “She’s been running the show for so many years and is such a gem — the Winchester community loves and appreciates her.”

Julie Redwine (pictured below), social worker at Amerman Elementary, was celebrated for going above and beyond in supporting students’ emotional well-being. One parent shared that Mrs. Redwine created a warm, supportive environment for their child, helping him feel “special rather than broken, and celebrated rather than berated.” They added that Mrs. Redwine even surprised their son — an aspiring baseball player — with a high school baseball hat, a gesture that made him feel seen and valued.

Kelly Lindsay (pictured below), principal at Winchester Elementary, was honored for her unwavering dedication to her students, families, and staff. A parent who has been part of the Winchester community for years described her as “a very special person” who greets students every morning, attends every school event, and always puts her staff first. “She makes time for everyone and truly embodies what it means to go above and beyond.”
