The Northville Educational Foundation (NEF) invites families to a free community screening of The First Day on Wednesday, November 5, from 6:30–8:30 PM at the Northville Marquis Theatre. This inspiring film features former professional basketball player and wellness advocate Chris Herren, and is designed to spark meaningful conversations about mental wellness, substance use, and healthy choices.
The screening is geared toward students in grades 6–12, and families are encouraged to attend together. Following the film, a live Q&A panel with professionals will provide an opportunity for discussion and guidance on these important topics.
The First Day chronicles Herren’s personal journey of recovery and highlights his impactful connections with students. Through candid storytelling, the film addresses challenges related to substance use, mental wellness, and decision-making that affect schools and communities nationwide.
This event is presented by the Northville Educational Foundation in partnership with Northville Public Schools, Northville Youth Network, and Northville PTA Council as part of the Parent Camp Mini Series.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be available for purchase.
